saskatchewan homestead

wow, if i was a writer / i'd spin a fine yarn about these two images. i did a road trip down to the homeland (oxbow), to hook up with friends and family for a little boat cruise on the souris river. turns out the boat didn't show, so i had time on my hands. i have driven by this farm a bizillion times (is that how writers articulate)??..... but never pulled in to document. took the time today/ met the owners, heard some great stories. i'll go back and shoot more (and maybe take a writer with me).

ps/i want to do a series on 'clothes lines' someday.

from the birdhouse to the outhouse

another angle from the one room school / northgate.. adventure.

birdhouse fun

these shots are just for fun. i was over at a friends place, saw this bird house, and asked him if i could come back with a camera. (moe said yes). it's a cool piece of folk art ( to my eye). lots of detail / can't be more than 2 feet and a bit high / wood pile..... gas barbie.... hanging plants... solar panel... i think a person would see something new every time you looked at it.

one room school house

i took a little drive south to my birth place today / northgate sk by name. i wanted to photograph the one room school house that is still standing there.

my sister attended for 5 grades or so, but the year my twin brother and i were to start grade 1, they shut her down. (humm. cause and effect)? so we moved to oxbow.

anyway, i had fun walking around the location, and this is an inside / out interpretation of the school. (i like the 'window' shot / click on to enlarge).

forget summer arts festival

i took a drive over to forget sk.this eve to check out the festival. typical prairie gathering... run into lots of folks you haven't seen for while / great weather and great atmosphere.

i knew that "tramp" was gonna be in the area, as he's the base guy for the local legendary group called 'downwind'. i spotted him before show time, and asked if he could reflect a little light for my camera. i like the result.

kennedy saskatchewan rodeo

this is my portrait of a rodeo competitor from hardisty alberta. his name is keifer, and as it's noted on his belt buckle, he is/was the 'canadian international rodeo association' (cira), season leader last year / saddle bronc. (man, i hope i got all that info right / if not i'll take correction).

anyway.. i watched him hammer thru a few 8 sec rides, and altho i think he made the whistle on the last one, he got thrown over the fence. these guys just get up, dust off, and head to the next town. i'll do a documentary some day.....

jim & joe

or is that joe and jim? i don't usually post the 'family' stuff, but i like this one. jim (the guy), mentioned that maybe i should take a photograph of him and joe (the good looking one on the left), before one of them moved on to another world. this was a quick shot from the hip, but it may become a classic... so i post for the archives.. it's a nice moment in time (to my eye).

caterham lotus 7

took this shot last year for a friend. he works off shore on the oil rigs, (malaysia i believe), so i haven't seen him for awhile. we crossed paths the other day, and he joked that he hasn't seen the shot on my blog. so here it is. i asked clay the dentist to write the byline (he knows more car details than i).

clays' first attempt: "here's one we did a year or so ago as Neil B leans into a tight chicane with the legendary Caterham Lotus 7 open wheel British racing car built by himself !............ Vroom Vroom "

second attempt: so how's that?? too over the top I esp thought "chicane "was a nice use of words I did spell check it
Has a Jackie Stewart ring to it........

alright, i'll stick to the photography, and clay can keep on drillin' teeth. it's a swell looking ride tho..... ( the car that is). enjoy neil.
