moose mountain provincial park, canada

short story long / i headed out of the bush to see if there were any weather photo 'ops'. i took a couple of right turns, and ended up in the back country with an epic rain/hail storm in progress (had my 4X4, the yaris would not have survived). i came across this, which i thought was a bizarre landscape. i will go back again and explore further.

That is very strange-it looks as if a fire has gone through this area--maybe it has.cw

It looks like a nuclear wasteland. I assume this is the 'controlled burn' we have been hearing about.

i don't think so.the'lake'or big slough is larger than it appears. i think it's high water, over time / maybe beaver dams? the timber is not burned. the green is algae, and may look like grass in the photo. anyways, when the trails dry up a bit, i'm going back for another look.

Crazy landscape. Look forward to seeing more. Alyssia (my daughter) says "he's so good." dk

After checking with a few of the folks around here, it appears that they are water killed trees. Great pic! ~TM
