vancouver sun run 2009

the vancouver sunrun 2009 was today. i wanted to shoot video of the event. my film pal, tommie d., has a condo balcony with a first class view. i talked my way into the joint, and took this portrait of him as payback.

a bit about the run.... they say there were 55,000 folks participating. it's quite the spectacle. a 10-km race/walk. largest in the world. video to follow.

The Vancouver Sun Run, sponsored by The Vancouver Sun newspaper, is a 10-km race held in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada

this is a really great portrait. So simple and extremely well composed. I think most people would see it as a good portrait and not even realize the compositional elements, angles and such, that make it a winner. A whole story is told in the one image. This is as good as something I would shoot.

i think it is something like the way you feel when you hear your own voice recorded.... "is that me???" This perhaps is the visual counterpoint to that feeling. We are, after all, our own toughest critics. And of course, that is no reflection on the photographer's eye... just my tired looking ones. :)
