cowboy on the plains part 2

this was my original intention re: style and technique for my portrait of barny. the other 2 B&W were after thoughts / not sure which one i like best, or the least.

the great plains

i went down to a ranch south of radville sask, to shoot a portrait of a friend who works there. here are 2 versions. my original idea was a colour shot out on the plains / i even took lighting equipment. but these images just sort of happened, and i liked them better.

i'd like to know what the 'people' think.....

prairie pony

on my way home this afternoon from cowboy country, i stopped to take a shot or two of this gal / the light was perfect.

fall colours

it's feeling like a good year for the fall colours / more to come. just my opinion / cloudy wet days make for the best light when photographing the leaves..

gotta be ready

cold, windy, cloudy morning. decided to go to the course just in case. i set camera up on the tripod, and waited around. the sun broke through for about 60 seconds, and then the colour was gone. i think it was worth the wait.

grass land

well, i got shut out today / the light didn't play for the camera. so this is a shot from yesterday / pure prairie (on the golf course). i like the colour of the grass, and the sky was working....

whitebear lake colf course

it was cold, windy, and cloudy first thing this AM. decided to get out to the course just in case. the weather broke for an hour or so, and i got this shot of #15.

misty morning

well, back shooting whitebear lake golf course this AM. this was a little mist rising just after the sun broke the horizon. not a golf shot, but shows the lay of the land.

a simple image/ i like it. looks better if one clicks to enlarge. let me know what you think?

i'm still working on a 'portrait' series. today, i went down to the south west, camera and light in tow. everyone was busy with harvest, but i was able to hook up with kelly, and he took the time to let me experiment.

i really like the first attempt (one needs to click on to enlarge), but i also like the second one. comments?? thxs.

whitebear lake golf course

well, this was from this morning. no mist, so i went to this location, that i have been interested in shooting for a few years. i like it, but i think i can make it better.... so i'll keep returning. stay tuned.

this is the morning catch. the putting green has a blanket of dew, although to some it may look like frost.

gettin' her ready

well, i must have a little pull at whitebear / the superintendent himself , came out early and got the green 'camera ready'. funny thing is, i like these 2 quick shots i did of larry p. better than the hero shot.

i'll be back for more in the next few days....

the weather in south east sask has been summer like, but the season is a changin'. this was from my golf course shoot this morning.

prairie harvest

this is my take on the prairie harvest / going full bore........

north dakota

this shots looks a little like a previous post, but the location is quite different. this is one huge field of 'spits' i saw on a road trip to minot, north dakota (sun flowers as far as the eye could see).

saskatchewan golf

this course i photographed in west central sk. used to be call riverbreaks / i think its called sageview these days.

the ad years

ok, i did a road trip to yorkton today/had to buy a meat saw, ya all... (was listening to blue collar radio on sirius, hence the 'ya all').). stopped at the superstore for a few food items, and the lady ahead of me was buying loads of 'stouffer's lean cuisine'

i retro'd back to one of the most difficult ad shoots i've ever done. it was for a NY ad agency / the client was stouffer's lean cuisine.

so this is the shot. took about 5 weeks of scouting/casting/fighting tooth and nail, but we got the shot. we rented the entire cafe for about 5 grand, had 50 or so extras, and a water truck or two (for the wet sidewalk look). can't say i miss those battles.....
